Thanks for visiting Feedbeans. There isn’t much here right now, but soon I’m hoping to be able to fill the site up with loads of useful information about RSS and of course to package up some really great feeds into feedbeans!

I’m Dave. I like blogs, and RSS and all other forms of social media. You can find out more on my personal blog, DavePress.

The idea for the site came to me because quite a few people have mentioned to me the difficulty in finding useful feeds to subscribe to. Generally speaking, this is best done by organically adding subscriptions as you go along, so where one feed links to another, you subscribe to that and so on. However, much of this work is essentially duplication, because someone else will have already made that connection themselves. So why not just have collections of feeds on various themes available for download?

So, I’ll be putting together collections of feeds and making them available on this site as downloadable OPML files. These can then be imported in a feed reader to add them to someone’s subscriptions.

Some stuff I need to sort out:

Notes on how users of various readers can make use of Feedbeans

Whether or not Feedbean should always start with a capital f

Some general guidance on RSS and aggregation

How people can suggest feeds to be added to a feedbean

And probably a tonne of other stuff.
